Fleming Timber Structures have been the primary subcontractor for South Lanarkshire Council in the Modernisation and Early Years Nursery Programme for the last 11 years. In that time, we have worked with main contractors such as Morgan Sindall, Kier and South Lanarkshire Council Building Resources building over 15 new schools & nurseries ranging from 300 – 3000m2.
All of these have been contractor designed with Fleming introducing and developing innovative construction methods using the full range of Timber Engineering products. Some of which include:
- Prefabricated Panel – some up to 10m in height.
- Feature glulam structures in gym halls and cafeteria areas.
- Large Prefabricated floor and roof cassette systems in Posijoist and Ijoist up to 13m in length.
- Where needed, structural steelwork.
This construction meant that the schools could deliver a large (2500M2+) primary school in phased handovers in 12-16 weeks which is far quicker than previous steel framed phases.
Every subcontract and subsequent main contract have been on schedule, with following trades able to start earlier than they would have with other construction methods.
